Sunmax Dental Membrane is a semi-translucent, compressed, non-friable matrix made of highly purified porcine dermal type I collagen without further cross-linking or chemical additives. The membrane retains its structure integrity even when wet. Adaption to the contours of the bone wall is easily achieved. Fixation with sutures or pins is possible. The membrane is completely absorbable, eliminating the need for the second surgical procedures often required to remove a non-resorbable membrane.

Sunmax Dental Membrane appears semi-translucent and non-slippery when wet. It can be trimmed to any size or shape in the dry or wet state, without tearing or fragmenting.

Sunmax Dental Membrane is sterilized by γ-irradiation.

Sunmax Dental Membrane is intended for use during the process of guided bone regeneration as a biodegradable membrane for supporting: Augmentation around implants placed immediate extraction sockets; ridge augmentation for later implantation; and alveolar ridge reconstruction for prosthetic treatment.
Sunmax Dental Membrane may be used in conjunction with space-making bone graft material
(e. g. auto-genous bone or bone substitutes)

The membrane can be placed either dry or hydrated. If the clinician prefers the handling characteristics of the hydrated collagen, the membrane can be hydrated in sterile water or saline solution for approximately five minutes prior to the final placement. The bone defect is surgically exposed and the usual surgical procedures are undertaken. The defect is filled with a space-making material, such as auto-genous bone or bone substitute whenever possible. The membrane is cut to the required size and shape with scissors. The membrane is applied over the defect and held in place with moderate pressure. Adhesion to the bone surface is facilitated by the hydrophilic properties of the membrane. Avoid overlapping or folding of the membrane. Fixation of the membrane is possible due to its high tensile strength. Fixation may be indicated to avoid membrane displacement due to shear loading or mobilization. Close the wound completely in order to ensure straightforward healing.
